Tweets From God

Nov 2014

Whether we use it or not, we are all familiar with the micro blogging device called Twitter. Twitter is an online social networking service that enables users to send and read short 140-character messages called "tweets". They are focused and to the point, much like the short, one chapter books of the Bible. Join us for this four week series as we look at these “tweets” from God in Philemon, 2nd & 3rd John, and Jude. Sometimes less is more.

Passage: Jude
Now, more than ever, Christians are being forced to stand up and defend their faith. History is full of Christian martyrs who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their belief in Jesus Christ. Today Christianity is made fun of, attacked, and constantly under criticism. In the book of Jude God “tweets” that we must contend for our faith. Like a prize fighter, there is something to be gained at the end of the fight … if we persevere.

Athletes and celebrities have let us down time and time again. But in the book of 3rd John God “tweets” that there are still good examples to follow, and bad examples to avoid.

Passage: 2 John
Truth has always had its opponents. There are those who twist it, attack it, challenge it, and try to change it. In the book of 2nd John there is a “tweet” from God to the church on how important truth is if we are to have an intimate relationship with God. We are reminded that the truth really will set us free. But we must know it before we can practice it.
