Our attitude and perspective on money is what causes us to buy what we buy, spend what we spend, save what we save, and give what we give. In this message I will help us see how God sees our money. It will challenge us to change our attitude and perspective.

Why do you have more than you need? You may not think you do. After all, many of us live from paycheck to paycheck and struggle to make ends meet. But Jesus told a story that has the power to completely alter the way you view your financial condition. No matter how much money you make, you have a choice: spend it all and have nothing to show for it when you die, or leverage it for the good of others. In this message, we will unpack a potentially life-changing truth about money by taking a look at one of Jesus’ parables.

One depiction of Christmas shows Santa Claus kneeling beside the manger. At that first Christmas, a group of educated, wealthy, and influential men did the same. Part of what makes the Christmas season so meaningful for many of us is the familiarity. We like things to be the same way every year. We are familiar with the story, the decorations, the music, and the atmosphere. However, the unfamiliar frightens us at times. Mary and Joseph found themselves in an unfamiliar location, surrounded by unfamiliar people, in an unfamiliar environment. Do you remember as a child what it was like enduring those days before Christmas? It was the anticipation that made Christmas, Christmas. There's always been a sense of anticipation around Christmas. The first Christmas was no different. Maybe that anticipation is needed. Maybe it’s what happens in that waiting that is the most important. In this opening message, Bobby explains “The George Bailey Syndrome”.

We all want to be friended, followed, linked, and mentioned. We all want to be recognized, admired, sought after, and envied. We hunger for approval. We want applause. We want to be known. But what do you do when there is no amount of “known” that will satisfy your appetite?

Passage: Daniel 5:17

Maybe you’re a “Three P” person—you have power, prestige, and possessions. You have influence. You are envied. People take you seriously because of what you’ve accomplished, what you look like, or who you’re married to. There’s nothing wrong with being a “Three P” person. But when it comes to pride, “Three P” people face a unique challenge.

There is a sin that is so common to the human experience, it is the gateway to all other sins. It promises to make us bigger, better, and more important, but only makes us smaller and meaner. It strips us of our capacity to connect with others. It stands between us and our heavenly Father.
